Inter Club Frog Race @ The British Legion, Radcliffe-on-Trent

Thu, Oct 26th 2017 at 7:15 pm - 9:15 pm

This Meeting was held at The British Legion, Radcliffe-on-Trent with a fish 'n' chip supper from Main Street Fish Shop, Radcliffe-on-Trent

Once again our club hosted an inter-club Frog Race Challenge. This year support from other clubs was limited to the two Newark Clubs (perhaps because we'd changed the date of the event), but this did not distract from the excitement of the event. Six team were formed Newark Castle, Newark, Vale of Belvoir A, Vale of Belvoir B, Vale of Belvoir C and "the All-Stars" ( known disparagingly as the "also ran"). This year the organising team (Alan F) introduced the use of a joker which added a certain frisson to the races.

Naturally speculating on the eventual winner was key to the race and over £30 was raised for charity as a result of the tote's frugality, but one visiting Rotarian "cracked the system" and managed to pocket a profit on most of the races. For a small donation to charity his secret can be shared!

After 8 races the hotly fought competition drew to an end and the winning team was the rightly named "All Stars". The successful winners secured, as their prize a chocolate orange and even a non-participant was awarded the previously mentioned. No prizes for guessing who that was - it was indeed the unnamed Rotarian who "cracked the system" !
