The Rotary Club of Dronfield, has for ten years, run the Fishtail project, started by David Lumb, and designed to help educate poor but clever students in Nepal, a country which has high levels of poverty and hunger.  They have developed a close and trusting relationship with the Rotary Club of Pokhara Fishtail, to the extent that 3 years ago when a devastating Earthquake occurred in the region Dronfield raised £10 000in two weeks to send them.  Ian Ward gave the club an excellent presentation, with the authority of someone who has regularly visited Nepal.  He described how the project has expanded from helping young children to also supporting university students.  They have also raised £45 000 to provide a new school, Prithiva Rupa School. Whilst the caste system was made illegal in Nepal in 1962, it is still an important factor in that country and hence helping poor students to gain a good education also promotes social mobility.  We, as a project for our Club, have sponsored a student boy called Shuik and are fully supportive of the great work that Dronfield are continuing to perform.                                 SH/AR
