Junior Art Competition - 2017

We had a fantastic response in 2017 with 179 entries from 8 of our local schools.

Our Youth Committee have already declared their intention to organise another competition in 2018


Vale of Belvoir Rotary Club - JUNIOR SCHOOL ART COMPETITION.

This is the second year that the club has organised this competition. It was open to all the Junior Schools in Radcliffe / Bingham / Cotgrave and the Vale which feed into Toot Hill and South Nottinghamshire Academy Senior Schools.

The theme this year was “My Favourite season “and the children were split into two age group categories: Years 3 / 4 and years 5 / 6. The response this year was excellent with 8 schools entering the competition.The winning and all other art work from over the 170 entries submitted  was exhibited at the Radcliffe on Trent Art Exhibition and Craft Fair run jointly with ourselves and the Bingham and Radcliffe Rotary Club and held at the Grange, Radcliffe on Trent 29th and 30th April.

The Winners & Highly Commended:

Years 3 & 4

Winner: Niamh O’Brien  (Robert Miles J S)

Highly commended: Lina Rahhouni (Radcliffe on Trent J S); Breige Larcombe (Archbishop Cranmer Academy)

Years 5 & 6

Winner: Ginty Allan (Robert Miles J S)

Highly commended: Scarlett Soloman (Radcliffe on Trent JS); Joshua Radmall (      Radcliffe on Trent J S)

Presentations were made at the winning schools in their assemblies and the Winners were also presented with their winning pictures, framed by Long Acre Studios of Bingham , by the Mayor of Rushcliffe at the Opening ceremony for the Art Exhibition and Craft Fair at Grange Hall on Saturday 29th April. This  Fair is organised and run jointly by the two Rotary clubs of the Vale of Belvoir and Bingham and Radcliffe over that weekend. 

Prizes of a £50 / £25 vouchers to spend at Hobby Craft were awarded to the Winners and Highly commended placings respectively together with the winning school also receiving a matching £50 contribution to their art department.

2018 Competition - Our third year and we received 159 entries from 6 schools: Archbishop Cranmer Academy, Aslockton; Carnarvon Primary school, Bingham; Flintham Primary school; Langar Primary school; Robert Miles School, Bingham and St.Peter's C of E Academy, East Bridgford. Judging has now been completed and the schools contacted to arrange prize presentations at school assembly over the next few weeks. The artwork will then be displayed at the Art Exhibition and Craft Fair at Grange Hall on Saturday 28th April. This  Fair is organised and run jointly by the two Rotary clubs of the Vale of Belvoir and Bingham and Radcliffe over that weekend.

more Each year we donate dictionaries to all Children, in the penultimate year of Junior School, in local schools and despite COVID we were able to deliver dictionaries to all our junior schools

more This was our 4th year for this competition 8 out of the 12 schools in the Toothill Academy and the South Notts Academy entered 158 exhibits.The winning entrants are displayed in the Bingham Library for the whole of May.
