17/09/26 – Venue discussions and Adrian Quiz

We ate a ‘frugal meal’ of bread and cheeses with salad pickle etc prepared and served by Jane, Adrian and Jim, which was enjoyed by all.

Alan F showed his survey findings on the two venues we had trialled and although neither was fully ideal, the consensus was for The Royal Oak at East Bridgford, which Alan recommended we take with a review at the end of November. Possible alternatives might include  the Lock and Larder at Gunthorpe but significant more work would be needed to “qualify” this option

Any other suggestions that fitted our criteria: would be welcomed by Alan and considered by Club Services

private room on Thursday evenings 18.30 to 21.30

bar from 18.30 and meal at 19.00;

2 or 1 course meal(veggie alternative) £18, suggesting ‘pub classics’;

numbers and choices provided by Tuesday;

ability for presentation and adequate parking

Adrian then did a quick table quiz on ‘TV Gameshows’ with some cryptic clues. Out of the 36 questions most tables managed to acquire 30+ points with President David’s team winning with 34, consisting of Doug, Steve (Quiz specialist) Carson, , Gail and Gerry T

President David thanked Alan F for all of his efforts and the International team for their meal provision and asked the members to join him in a warm round of applause.        AR
