Schools Make Music

For 21 Years Trinity Rotary has been instrumental in giving youngstersfrom schools in the area with ages ranging from beginning at Primary right through to Sixth Form level the opportunity to perform before a live audience at King's Lynn Corn Exchange. 

Derek Oldfield  for more than 30 years has led and inspired King's Lynn music making in schools and has been the  Music Coordinator .for "Schools Make Music" right through from 1997 when the idea was born to the present day and each time the concert has been performed he has been the mastermind behind it.

His dedication was recognised after 10 years when he was presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship - Rotary's highest award and now in recognition of his valued contribution to the success of this venture Trinity Rotary Club felt that it was appropriate to award him a second PHF with sapphire as a token of their appreciation of the service that he has given not only to "Schools Make Music" but to wider aspect of making music more accessible to youngsters in West Norfolk and giving them encouragement to aspire further in the music field.

An honour well deserved indeed.
