Presentation of Dictionaries4Life has become an ongoing part of Trinity's service to the community for some years now.
It is difficult to know where this sits within Rotary's Avenues of Service - is it Vocational? - well, partly - is it Youth Service? - well, partly - is it Community Service? - again, partly. With Trinity it comes nominally under our Community Service Committee
You may say "Who cares? Certainly Trinity cares that our children get the best start in life with their education that they can. Presenting every child in five junior schools in the King's Lynn area with their own personal copy of the Usborne Illustrated Dictionary as they progress to senior school is Trinity's way of helping to achieve that aim. In conjunction with the other King's Lynn Rotary Clubs our target is provide dictionaries to all of the primary/junior schools in King's Lynn.
In 2015 Trinity presented dictionaries to Howard Primary, Fairstead Primary, Gaywood Junior, Eastgte Academy and St Edmunds Primary. These schools draw their pupils from some of the most deprived areas of the town and have a high level of ethnic minorities among their pupils which means that the resource is provided where it is most needed.
