As part of their service to the community internationally King's Lynn Trinity have provided a village in Zambia with clean potable water where there was none before
Through 1080 in Zambia and working with Village Water, a UK based charity the Club have financed and sponsored a well in Namalya in the Western Province of Zambia
The slideshow shows the progress of the construction of the well by the villagers and the District 1080 International Chairman Richard Pither receiving the thanks of the village headman as the pump is installed
Prior to the installation women from the village spent many hours each day bringing contaminated water back to their families from the nearest river and while doing that they neglected the family and the whole community suffered. Obviously the children were the first to suffer and while the mothers were away from the village vital education time for them was missed.
As an essential part of the package hygiene and sanitation training for all the villagers is included as well as the provision of clean water
Through the overall project over 61 communities in Zambia have benefited from this initiative and Trinity are pleased to have been associated with it.
