Rotary and Skipton Step Into Action host autumn tea party

96 residents of Skipton were in for a treat when they attended a Step into Autumn Tea Party at Skipton Town Hall on Sunday 17th September 2023

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Skipton Craven and their partner charity Skipton Step into Action, the event for the elderly and vulnerable, served also as a fundraiser towards a portable defibrillator for SSIA.

Guests were treated to an afternoon tea comprising of sandwiches, cakes and scones followed by a virtuoso performance from Nicola Mills Opera for the People (eliciting a standing ovation), a poem recital from local poet Yvonne Crabtree, a couple of games of bingo and a Grand raffle with some amazing prizes.

Guests included members of the Greatwood Community, the Baptist Luncheon Group, the Maureen Carlisle Friendship Group and the Breakfast Fire Station Dementia Group.Rotarian David Squire, from the Rotary Club of Skipton Craven and Lead organiser of the event said:

“We have been hosting our very popular Step into Spring/Autumn tea parties since 2019, but this one was special because it was a joint venture with our partner charity Skipton Step into Action and served also as a fundraiser towards a portable defibrillator for the Charity.  The event was funded by the Rotary Club of Skipton Craven, with the proceeds of ticket and raffle sales going to SSIA.

I am pleased to say that we raised a magnificent £848.

A big thank you must go to my Rotary colleagues, Rotary wives and SSIA volunteers whose efforts contributed to the success of the day, as well as to those organisations that kindly provided raffle prizes”
