Club Outside Visit - LEEDS "West Side Story Walk" The Leeds "West Side Story" Walk started with Luddites meeting in Leeds City station on a mild but wet January evening. |

| Ken Goor the walk leader showed the emblems on the surrounds of the Queens Hotel and the nearby former Yorkshire Banking Company building which latterly became the Midland Bank. | |

We walked through Leeds city square looking at the old Post Office and into Quebec Hotel to see the Hotel gallery lit by five tall stained-glass windows which illustrate the coat of arms of five Yorkshire towns and outside a balcony where Liberal Politicians orated. |

The Leeds coat of arms The fleece represented the staple trade of the town. The first mayor of the town was Thomas Danby whose arms included three mullets argent, or three silver five-pointed stars to you and me. The stars were added to the arms. The motto, "Pro Rege et Lege", is latin "For King and the law". |

Then on to Park parade looking at historic St Pauls cloth warehouse through into the Georgian Park Square and finishing in and around LGI teaching Hospital. Luddites inside the old part of LGI |
