Chris’s passion is for teaching the game of chess and developing a culture of peace in schools. He believes, the game of chess develops personal humility, reason, patience and discipline in our actions and decision making. He speaks to us about developing chess programmes in every community because chess transcends race, religion nationalities. No one is dropping bombs on each other at a chess table.
Chris joined Rotary in 2010 and a major donor for Rotary International. He is a member of the Rotary club e-Club of Silicon Valley D5170.
In 2009, with a grant from Rotary Club of San Ramon, Major started the programme that grew into the Novato Chess Club. The goal was to improve kids’ critical thinking and to learn to communicate and overcome failure.
