A presentation by Biffy Dankwertz on the sustainable and measurable impact for children by Rotarians.
Guests welcome on Zoom.

Elizabeth (aka Biffy) Danckwerts was brought up in the Eastern Cape and did a short stint in Johannesburg of 4 years in the 1980’s. Biffy said, that was “enough!!”. She moved from the Eastern Cape to Cape Town at the end of 1998.

Biffy has made a significant impact in her community, especially in decreasing  the number of children sleeping on the streets daily from 60 odd to under 10 in the early 2000s  before she even became a Rotarian. Biffy’s joined Rotary 2005 and is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow who has served on many club and district portfolios, especially New Generations and Rotaract. She has been responsible for more than 30 Global Grants. Biffy is happiest getting her hands dirty doing projects.   Her biggest passion is helping the kids in the largest township of Cape Town, especially Khayelithsa.

Biffy spent about 4 years doing volunteer work for the Street Children of Claremont in the early 2000’s decreasing the number of children sleeping on the streets daily from 60 odd to under 10.  With the help of Linda Piermontesi and the Claremont Central Improvement District (a business forum) they all did themselves out of a job.

Biffy is happiest getting her hands dirty doing projects. Her biggest passion is helping the kids in the largest township of Cape Town. Khayelithsa and this is truly Biffy’s second home.  She speaks the African language of Xhosa and is happy and at home amongst these people.

Biffy will be telling us about her work in the townships with Isiphiwo Primary School, Illitha creche and Esangweni Senior School showcasing the elements that make for impactful initiatives and their success!!
