At our weekly meeting on 2nd April 2025 International Chair, Gordon Roan, gave a report on Phase 3 of the Chitipi School Project
The picture below on the left side shows the position of the latest building (white rectangle).
The Project is partially funded by a District Grant of £8,000 from Rotary Foundation. The total cost of the project amounts to £28,300 and has also been supported by generous donations from other Rotary Clubs in our district (see below)
Maps of the site layout
Plans of the layout and elevations are shown of the building which includes a classroom, two vocational rooms to teach the pupils carpentry and craft skills and a Community Meeting Room to be shared with the village community
Thanks to DSA Associates for preparing the drawings.
In the Spring 2025 the builder George started with the footings and concrete floos slab.
This view of the start of the wall blocks shows a building in the background which was the classroom Rotary Becket built in 2024 as part of Phase 2
By the end March 2025 the building bad been finished up to roof level
It is hoped that the building will be complete and operational by the end of the May 2025 when a group of the Club intend to visit for the formal hand-over.
Our thanks goes to all those Rotary Clubs including Towcester, Northampton West, Kettering Huxlow. St Neots St Mary, Corby Phoenix, Woodhall Spar, Peterborough, Lincoln Lindum & Bakewell who have been so generous in supporting this ambitious project.
We still need to raise a balance of costs and are holding fundraisers including our Jazz Evening on 12th April and a Donkey Diary on 19th July. Click on the red links for details if you would like to support us.
