On Saturday the 16th March members of the Club and large number of guests enjoyed a night of Traditional Jazz in the Community Centre at Kislingbury The event was organised as a fund raising activity in support of the planned building activity in Malawi, a very poor area of Africa in which the Club has held a long term commitment.Attendees were able to add to their enjoyment of the evening by partaking in an excellent hot supper from a choice of dishes whilst lubricating their vocal chords with a glass of their favourite tipple from the bar.
The lead organisers were Rtns, John Saynor and Terry Atkinson from the international committee with excellent support from their families and a small group of rotary volunteers.
The music supplied by the local and well established Fenny Stompers was excellent and exactly what one might expect from such an experienced group.
The resulting charitable income was over £2,000, making a very welcome addition to the planned activities in Malawi, (additional school class rooms and toilets)
Some of those attending have raised the question, "will there be another one?"
We can only hope!
