Rotary Becket Raises £6,500 or Great Causes at the 4th Becket Derby

Rotary Becket Hosts Highly Successful "Becket Derby" Fundraiser

The Rotary Club of Northampton Becket hosted a highly successful "Becket Derby" on Saturday, 11 July, raising vital funds for both local and international charity projects.

The event took place at the home of Rotarian Robert Shoebridge in Horton. Over 130 friends, supporters, and families gathered for a fantastic day of fun, where children raced hobby horses to claim victory.  A total of £6,500 was raised to be split between local communty projects and out Malawi School Project. (see below for details of those projects).

High-Stakes Fun for a Great Cause

Supported by headline partner DFA Law, the event featured six exciting races. Each race included six "runners" entered by enthusiastic owners.

Race commentator David Sparrow kept the energy high. He was ably assisted by numerous children who threw the dice to determine each horse's progress. Winning owners were celebrated and awarded a bottle to mark their victory!

Great Food and Perfect Weather

At the halfway stage, guests took a break from the track to enjoy a delicious BBQ meal, topped off with fresh strawberries and ice cream. The entire afternoon was bathed in beautiful, uncharacteristic sunshine, making the outdoor setting even more enjoyable.
