Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

A key area of Rotary's focus aimed at providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene education to all communities around the World

Water Means Life

Running water is something we often take for granted. But imagine if you did not have access to clean water at the turning of a tap or access to an adequate toilet

1 in 10 people worldwide do not have access to clean water

1 in 3 people worldwide do not have access to a toilet

There are more mobile phones in the World than toilets

Rotary is committed to a sustainable approach to water, sanitation and hygiene. We don’t just dig wells or build toilets and walk away.

Our projects educate communities to maintain functioning water systems and understand the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene practices.

When children understand the process of disease transmission and good hygiene, schools and homes become healthier environments, meaning communities can develop and grow.

When a mother does not have to walk for hours every single day to collect water, she has the opportunity to earn an income for her family.

With clean water and proper sanitation the incidence of diease is substantially reduced so people can spend more time earning a living than caring for the sick.

If providing clean water and sanitation to everyone in the World is your passion Rotary can help fulfill your ambitions.
