It was a busy evening at our monthly business meeting in November when we were able to present cheques to 3 local charities. The first cheque for £500 was presented to a representative of the Treehouse Wellbeing Centre to assist it with their good work in Lutterworth and the surrounding area. Treehouse is a community interest company therapy centre based in Lutterworth with an emphasis on Play Therapy and family support. The support services provided are for children, parents and carers.
The second cheque for £500 was presented to Maggie Pankhurst of the South Leicestershire Dementia Community (SLDC). This charity was launched in the spring of 2026 and was created as a natural evolution of the long-established work of the Academy for Dementia Research and Education Limited (ADRE) who support people in the earlier stages of dementia in Lutterworth and the surrounding district. As the local solution for dementia support, the friendly and experienced team delivers fun, stimulating group activities designed to keep minds and bodies active, build confidence, and promote independence.
The final cheque for £776.00 for the Rainbows Children’s Hospice was presented to Abbie Maclean of Lutterworth Golf Club. This money was raised through a joint Rotary/Golf Club venture of a charity race night which took place at the Golf Club in October and was doubled by a generous offer from a Golf Club member who "price matched" the money raised.
