Rotary Young RYLA

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards are offered to young people to help them develop life skills.

For a number of years, we have sponsored young people in their mid-teens to attend the Rotary Young Leadership course held at White Hall, Buxton, Derbyshire. The objective is to introduce the participants to the principles of teamwork and leadership by way of mainly outdoor activities. Abseiling, canoeing, caving, mountain biking and rock climbing are at the core of the course together with skills in team communication to achieve tasks. All our candidates reported that they gained self confidence through their experiences with 14-year-old Gabriel our 2025 attendee saying that ‘I myself learned to listen to other people’s opinions and take that into account whilst having tons of fun’
