David Austin treated us to a discourse on some of his experiences whilst working as a medico-legal expert as part of his career portfolio as a Consultant Opthalmic Surgeon. The small group of members present now better understand the issues involved in providing expert witness evidence to a court and some of the problems faced when attending for cross examination. David also described the issues involved when working for solicitors and their often slowness in settling professional accounts! Despite it now being more than a decade since David was required to work he was able to recount clearly some intriguing events that he had experienced during his career.
Thanks for stepping into a gap in the programme and for giving us an insight into part of your previous working life.
