REMAP -assisting the disabled with bespoke aids to living

REMAP

9th September 2014

Members were treated to a fascinating talk by Martin Grant about what, to most, was an unknown charity - REMAP - a national organisation with local autonomous branches made up of enthusiastic engineers giving their time skill and ingenuity to one-off requests to help people with disabilities.

Examples of recent "commissions" included a fitment to secure a baby seat to the wheelchair used by a disabled mother, a hand driven bike on ladder rails to enable a disabled fundraiser conquer Mt Kilamanjaro (in nine and a half days!) and a cheek operated page turner to enable a quadriplegic to read books on her tablet.

Uplifting and inspirational.
