Tuesday 22nd July 2014
Geoff Smith attended as the speaker at Kibworth Golf Club. After some initial confusion [he thought he was speaking about the Great Central Railway] Geoff gave a very erudite and thorough talk about the development of the jet engine by Sir Frank Whittle [and his team] initially working in Lutterworth and later at the GEC site at Whetstone. His talk was liberally illustrated with photographs of persons and memorabilia related to the topic [mainly].
John Kirwan proposed the vote of thanks.
