Charity Golf Day 2024

We are pleased to announce details of our 2024 Charity Golf Day – this year it is the 30th! As usual it will be held at Thurlestone Golf Club which boasts one of the best courses in the South West with wonderful views – see the details at www.thurlestonegolfclub.co.uk

The format is a Full WHS Handicap Stableford played as a team of three, with best two on each hole to count. Teams can be made up of ladies, gentlemen, or mixed teams. Prizes will be presented on the day with many to be won.  However, to qualify for the major prizes an active handicap will be needed preferable your CDH number. As we need to prepare the score cards in advance the latest change we can take is close on Sunday 12th May.

The entry fee of £50 per person (with a 10% discount for Thurlestone Members) includes the golf, a twos competition, prizes and an excellent two course buffet meal. Last year’s event raised over £8,000 for charity. We will continue to support Rotary and local charities. This year our main charity is: -

Prostate Cancer UK

Prostate Cancer UK addresses the needs of sufferers from this sadly very common cancer. It also supports research aimed at reducing the incidence in the future.

Steve Rider the well-known TV sports presenter who is a strong supporter of Prostate Cancer UK is joining and playing with us this year.


Steve had an operation for prostate cancer last year and since has appeared on national television in support of Prostate Cancer UK. More recently King Charles III has had prostate treatment.

Many thanks to all those who donated towards the ShelterBox collection for Moroccan Earthquake and Libyan Floods. £392.13 was collected and the Club voted to increase the donation to £600. ShelterBox are currently assessing the countries needs.
