visit to Hope Cove lifeboat Station

Members of the Rotary Club of Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary club and partners visited the Hope Cove Lifeboat on Tuesday 8th October 2013. The visit was made ahead of the club's annual Swimarathon some of the proceeds of which will be donated to the lifeboat, and was arranged by the Club President Steve Mullen who is also a member of the lifeboat crew together with Coxwains Dave Illingwoirth Ian Pedrick and Richard Clarkson and crew member Victoria Greaves.

The club was given a talk on how the lifeboat is operated and funded then saw the boat launched. A number of members were taken afloat in full lifeboat kit and given an idea of what the boat is capable of. Afterwards they enjoyed a meal at the Hope & Anchor.

Club President Steve Mullen said "The visit gave club members and their partners an opportunity to find out about the running of the boat and to experience first hand the kit we have to wear and how the boat is launched and how it handles."
