SWIMARATHON

What is it?

The Swimarathon is a FUN event and is a great way to raise funds for your club, school or organisation.

Who organises the event?

The event is organised by Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club who provide all the help and resources you need to make it a success.  It is free to enter and there are no hidden costs.

How does it work?

Teams of 6 to 8 swimmers are allocated 55 minutes to swim as many 25 metre lengths as they can in relay.  Diving is not permitted so swimmers begin and hand over in the water. 

The number of lengths swum is recorded by an impartial observer and each participant receives a certificate to record their achievement.

Who can take part?

Anybody.  Though all swimmers must be able to swim 25 metres confidently!

Tell me more about how it is organised.

Teams are allocated a lane and a time to swim.  Most groups enter several teams and all participants start at the time they are allocated between 14.00 and 19.00.  Teams can request times and lanes that suit them best (schools normally swim in the afternoon and adult groups in the evening)

How does the sponsorship work?

Teams arrange their own sponsors and collect monies before passing it to the Estuary Rotary Club who will then return 75% of all monies collected to the individual clubs to spend as they wish.  The remaining 25% goes to the Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club Charitable Trust Fund (No. 1040288) and is used to support local initiatives during 2027.
