Kirsty and Lamorna joined us to describe the work of St Mungo's Trust, which operates in London and across the South of England to Bristol.  They have 174 projects going on at various centres.

The work with people who are homeless is divided into 'Emergency' 'Accommodation' and 'Recovery'.   Finding shelter for those sleeping out has been difficult during the coronavirus pandemic, but they did manage to find rooms in 27 hotels and hostels for almost 3,000 people.  It gave the outreach teams an opportunity to get to know the people more closely and help with their problems.  As a result, over 1,000 were supported back off the streets and into regular accommodation.

Many of their clients are suffering from mental health problems, including depression, usually because of loss of job or accommodation - although the problems are wide-ranging.

Much of the support work involves education as part of the recovery and they have a college where clients can be taught basic or new skills to help them back into employment and independence.       www.mungos.org
