A ten year old Brierley Hill girl who has only owned a camera for "a short time" has beaten scores of Midland youngsters of a similar age in the Rotary photograhic competition that has now put her into the national final.
Katie-Mae Mistry, a year six pupil at Brierley HIll Primary School, beat 60 pupils from primary schools in Kinver, Wollaston and her own school, who entered photographs in the first round of the competition organised by Kinver Rotary Club.
Her picture of swans, swimming on the canal alongside her school, went on to compete against local winners from the 60 Rotary Clubs in District 1060.
Having been proclaimed the winner from those pictures, her shot went forward to the finals of the junior section of the Nationwide Rotary Young Photographer competition, where she was up against pictures from up to 30 other district winners to find Roary's British Photograper of the year.
