At the invitation of the RBWM Mayor Cllr Simon Bond, Presidents of the 3 Rotary Clubs in Maidenhead representing their respective Clubs (Maidenhead, Maidenhead Bridge and Maidenhead Thames) attended the Remembrance Service in Town on Sunday 10 November.
Following the parade from Bridge Avenue along York Road and St Ives Road, the Civic Party led by the Clergy took up their positions for the civic service and to lay wreaths at the foot of the Memorial Cross.
Standard/Colour Bearers, Bugler and Wreath Bearers took up their positions by the War Memorial, and the Salvation Army Band accompanied the service.The "Last Post" was sounded by the Bugler before a two minutes silence was held at the war memorial.
The dignitaries then headed to St Mary’s Church for the Church service led by Rev Jon Drake who reminded us of the sacrifices the Armed Forces have made for us, and spoke about the concern of the increasing number of current conflicts and wars since WW1.
The Civic Party then left the Church at the conclusion of the Service, headed by the Mayor to be followed by former Mayors and Mayoresses, Members of the Council, other dignitaries, Directors and Magistrates and will return to the Town Hall for the march past.
