Rotarian Lucy Badham was the Speaker at the Rotary Club of Maidenhead Thames event on Monday’s Partners evening at Fredrick’s. She gave members an insight into her professional life.
At the age of 10, Lucy was given a second hand camera which ignited her passion in Photography. As a student, she practised her photography skills during her visit to Venice capturing Venetian costumes at Venice Carnival.
She later invested in professional training before embarking on her second career in photography and establishing “Lucy Badham Photography” in 2005. Focusing initially on weddings and family portraits, she later expanded to business photography. Her recent photoshoots included photography at high profile local restaurants and hotel interiors, beauty salons and photography of skincare products, jewellery and business portraits.
She then extended her services to photographing children and animals capturing magical moments and interactions, in spite of it requiring a great amount of patience and time.
Lucy shared with us portraits of dogs in natural environment and cats on home turf, the latter being extremely challenging to capture at times; likewise with children, among them self conscious teenagers!
She finished off her presentation showing the members some previous shots of Rotary events, be it President’s Night, fellowship evening or events such as the Cookham Fun Regatta.
Lucy then concluded her talk by offering the audience some tips on photography focusing on background and colours, the effect of sunlight and the ‘rule of thirds’ - a very informative and entertaining evening.
