A talk was presented to our Club at Fredricks Hotel by Rotarian Marius Ciortan, District 1090 Membership Chair on the subject of “Rotary Membership”.
Marius explained the new additions to Rotary membership categories, namely:
a - Corporate Membership - targeting companies and organisations of less than 100 employees. It is particularly aimed at local charities, schools, restaurants, etc. Membership can be up to 5 people, with one named as the Principal Member, the other 4 as Secondary members. One membership fee of £120 pa is paid by their company for membership. Ideally, the approach would be to invite targeted individuals to Information meetings to explain the benefits of such membership.
b- Impact (Companion) Membership - These are targeted at those who wish to be active and serve but don’t wish to attend meetings, a “Get in, Serve and Go Home” approach. In a way, it is similar to the “Friends of Maidenhead” approach previously introduced by our Club.
c- Direct Membership, affiliated to District 1090, those members don’t belong to any Club but offer support to projects of any District 1090 Club.
Marius has already posted our Club’s Santa Grotto and Carol Singing projects on the ‘Web based’ Rotary Forum, and offered to support us should we wish to pursue Corporate or Impact membership.
Two visitors attended our Club. They were originally from India, namely Rotarian Vikas Kakade and his Rotarian wife Kalpana Kakade who now live in Maidenhead. They are still virtual members of Pune-Shivajinagar Rotary Club, a similar age to our Club, but with a membership of c65. They shared with us a video of their Club activities, and exchanged physical and virtual Club flags with President Mark.
A presentation of a cheque for £3,000 was presented by Rotarian Keith Miller of Cookham Bridge Rotary Club to President Mark Loader for partnering and contributing to the success of the Cookham Regatta. A total of £11,000 was raised, with £2,500 awarded to the Thames Hospice.
