Wanted: Volunteer Readers

Can you spare an hour each week to improve the literacy of Maidenhead's primary school children?

Can you give one hour a week to help improve children's literacy?

By becoming a reading volunteer, and giving an hour of your time each week to listen to children read, you can support local children and help them to improve their literacy.

Not every child gets the support and encouragement to read outside the school environment. Promoting and encouraging reading in school is key to ensuring that every child gets the opportunity to learn how to enjoy reading.

You'll be giving the children: consistent support to practise reading skills; help to foster a love of reading and a positive attitude to learning; helping them to increase their confidence, self-esteem and social skills
