The Rotary Mosaic Unveiled !!

An explanation of the various images represented in the Saltburn Rotary Mosaic, highlighting the work of Rotary in the community since 1926.

The formal unveiling.

The Horse: The Rotary Club regularly hold Charity Race Night events to raise funds for local charities
and groups in the community.

Musicians: Several popular Rock and Blues music events have been held to raise funds for local and national charities such as the Redcar RNLI, Air Ambulance, Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team and Guide Dog Association.

The Sunflower: Representing a local fun competition from seed to flower to engage with all age groups
in the community during the COVID pandemic.

Saltburn Community Arts Association Theatre Seats: Rotarians sourced, funded and replaced the seats

with up-cycled and fully restored theatre seats in 1976 commemorating 50 year Rotary Club of Saltburn.

Cream Tea Parties: Happy times with live music and cream teas enjoyed by all in the community. Raising
money for the eradication of Polio through a worldwide vaccination programme sponsored by Rotary International. Trolley Dash: A run around Sainsbury’s supermarket against the clock! Raising money for local charities.

Charity Auctions: Items donated by Sporting Personalities and donations from local businesses and Friends of Rotary being auctioned to raise money for the community charity pot.

Chocolate Raffles: Rotary are often at the ever-popular Saltburn Farmers Market raffling donated chocolate products for charitable causes.

Rotakids: A fun exciting way for young people aged 7-12 in the community to make friends and get involved in Rotary Activities.

Defibrillators: Saltburn Rotary have raised funds through sponsored walks and other activities to place several defibrillators in the community for public access and for use in critical incidents or other emergencies.

The Saltburn Town Clock: Presented to the folk of Saltburn in 1958 by the Rotarians celebrating 25 years of the Saltburn Rotary Club and the Golden Jubilee Rotary International activity in the community.

The NHS Rainbow: Saltburn Rotary have supported the NHS across the spectrum of their work, including donating funds to the Holistic Centre at the James Cook University Hospital.

Saltburn Athletic Football Club: Sponsored and supported by the Saltburn Rotarians for over 25 years to encourage children and young persons to enjoy sport and represent their community in the region.

Redcar RNLI: The Rotarians have raised funds for this charity over generations thereby helping to save lives at sea. The Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team: Saltburn Rotary Club have supported the CMRT with funding for equipment and training for this remarkable volunteer group.

Great North Air Ambulance Service: GNAAS have been supported by Rotary who are proud to support this excellent, essential service.

Crocus Flower: Rotary International have continuously funded a worldwide Polio vaccination programme. Saltburn Rotary have planted hundreds of crocus corms around Saltburn to represent and celebrate this global work.

Guide Dog: Saltburn Rotary have supported the Guide Dog Association holding several fund raising events.

The Salvation Army Shield: The Saltburn Rotarians continuously support the Salvation Army Christmas homeless appeals.

The Rotary Wheel: Represents the daily sunrise over Huntcliff and Saltburn Rotary Club’s continued and dedicated community service and support since 1926.

The Student sporting a Mortar Board: Represents the Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange. Saltburn Rotary Club have welcomed over many years a significant number of exchange study students from around the globe. They have provided family accommodation and inclusive community activity.

The Yellow Daffodil: Rotary Club of Saltburn have donated funds to cancer research and end of life charities.
