In the run-up to Saltburn Rotary's centenary year in 2026, the club has commissioned an ambitious mosaic to illustrate many of the activities that the members have been involved in over the years. 100% funded by the club members themselves, the mosaic - which measures 3m x 1.5m - will eventually be mounted on the wall of the Sainsbury store next to Saltburn's railway station, alongside the other existing artworks.
The mosaic is being made at Saltburn Studios and Gallery and as part of the process, the partially completed mosaic will be displayed at a number of locations in the next couple of months to allow schoolchildren and other members of the community to add tiles into the design, helping towards completing the overall artwork.
A number of Rotarians visited the studio recently to see progress and to finalise the last elements of the design and were hugely impressed with what will be a remarkable testament to the activities that the club has been involved with over the last 100 years. It is shaping up to be a really eye-catching way to tell our story and we're greatly appreciative of the work being done by Helen and Derek of Saltburn Studios.
Keep a lookout for updates and see information on where you'll be able to check out the progress being made and perhaps even join in by adding a tile or two yourself.
