Shelterbox

A box containing all the essentials for initial survival following a natural disaster, Shelter tent, blankets, cooking facilities and water purifier.

Recently, we were saddened to learn of the death of Shirley Ridsdale, one of our much valued Rotarians.

Shirley was a great contributor to the club's efforts and was also a long term supporter of the Rotary Foundation, being awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of her contribution over the years. Shirley continued this service by leaving us a legacy in her will to further our charitable work, allowing us to donate to one of her favourite international causes - the ShelterBox programme. Shirley's donation will provide shelter and equipment for a family at their time of greatest need.
ShelterBox operates worldwide and provides temporary shelters, essential items and technical assistance to help some of the world’s most vulnerable people recover and rebuild their lives after disaster, with kits tailored to specific needs.
Whilst Shirley will be very much missed by all her friends, family and fellow Rotarians, her legacy will mean so very much to another family elsewhere, who've been the victims of a different kind of tragedy.
