Rotary Young Citizen Peacemaker Award
On Thursday 16th May 2019 Fay Pretty received this much deserved award
Fay Pretty, 19, ex Avonbourne College student was
recently
invited to the club to receive the Rotary Young Citizen Peacemaker
Award certificate in recognition of her contribution towards
building peace and understanding in the community and abroad. She
was inspired having been sponsored by this club on the 2017
PeaceJam Conference in Winchester led by Liberian Nobel Peace
Laureate Leymah Gbowee. Now, studying herself in Winchester, she
has been involved in organising this year's conference led by
Nobel Peace Prize winner and Irish peace campaigner Betty Williams
and is working on a project to educate young people about the
conflict in Northern Ireland and use her voice in the media for peace.
