Basingstoke Deane Rotary and Hampshire Hospitals Charity: Respiratory Project - JustGiving
The Rotary Club of Basingstoke Deane is proud to have partnered with Hampshire Hospitals Charity to launch a fundraising campaign to raise £38,000 to fund the purchase of a state-of-the-art camera system and an additional thoracoscope for the respiratory team at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. While this equipment is available within the wider Hampshire Hospitals Trust, it falls outside the scope of NHS funding.
This updated medical equipment is critical for enhancing care for patients with pleural effusion, a condition where fluid accumulates around the lungs, leading to breathing difficulties. Pleural effusion often affects individuals with lung and respiratory diseases. Currently, patients in north Hampshire must travel to Winchester for a procedure called medical thoracoscopy, which can be both inconvenient and stressful.
The new equipment will provide advanced features, including superior image quality and improved compatibility with modern tools, resulting in safer and more efficient procedures.
By investing in this technology, patients in north Hampshire will benefit from receiving care closer to home. This not only reduces the need for travel but also alleviates the burden on hospitals while improving patient outcomes overall.
