Scout Hoodies

Presenting our local scout troop with hoodies for their camp.

Last year Basingstoke West Scouts took sixty scouts on a camping trip to the Peak District, which was such a great success that they are repeating it again this year. They try to keep the cost down by subsidising it from central funds, they also subsidise further some of the scouts who’s parents are struggling financially. The camp is taking place in August during school holidays.

The purpose of the scouting movement is to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. This fits with the ideals of rotary and our work with the youth of today.

So that all the scouts look the same and no-one feels left out they like to provide everyone with a hoodie which Rotary sponsored this year.

At the end of July, Mike Lakin and Alf McCarthy went to meet the Scouts at Lyons Cops (a local scout camp) near Southampton to hand out the hoodies, needless to say everyone was delighted.
