Rotary District 1260 Celebrates Handover of Advanced Neonatal Simulator to Lister Hospital

A Major Milestone for Regional Healthcare

On Monday evening, representatives from across Rotary District 1260 gathered at The Lister Hospital in Stevenage to mark a significant milestone in regional healthcare provision. The Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse, supported by several other local Rotary clubs, officially presented a state-of-the-art Newborn Baby Simulator, valued at over £26,000, to the hospital’s Neonatal Unit.

District Governor Kendal Pitt and District Membership Lead Amanda Joseph were both in attendance to support the presentation and witness the tangible outcome of collaborative Rotary fundraising.

Aligning with Maternal and Child Health Month

This significant endeavour aligns directly with one of Rotary International’s seven core Areas of Focus. As July is designated as Maternal and Child Health Month, there is no more fitting way to observe this period than by facilitating the acquisition of life-saving equipment that protects and cares for vulnerable mothers and their infants within our local communities.

Recognising Outstanding Behind-the-Scenes Dedication

District 1260 extends its sincere thanks and formal acknowledgement to Sue Watkinson and Bob Harris, who undertook the extensive administrative work and coordination necessary to secure these funds. Sue spear-headed the regional outreach, communicating with club secretaries and presidents across the hospital’s entire catchment area to request their financial backing.

This initiative exemplifies the fundamental purpose of District 1260: to foster solidarity and provide collective support to individual clubs. Comprising 58 clubs and over 1,300 members across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hertfordshire, the District functions as a collaborative network dedicated to assisting local communities through direct action and mutual support.
