In recent years we have been pleased to be able to support the work of the Scotswood Natural Community Garden among young people in the City. Over the last five years we have provided equipment for participants in their first Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme programme; funded a part-time youth worker for one school term; contributed toward the transport costs enabling two groups of young people to gain experience on sailing trips and funded a part time youth worker for a term when funding for the charity was short.
During his Presidential Year of 2010-11 Peter Tracey arranged a number of events to raise funds towards a new Maggies Centre to provide support for cancer sufferers in the North-East. A Total of £4,500 was raised over the year.
We have supported the work of the People's Kitchen in Newcastle over many years with various donations.
For two successive years, the charity that has benefitted from the proceeds of our main annual fundraising event was the Tiny Lives Fund, which provides support for the neonatal unit of the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle upon Tyne.
