This year we were allocated three days for our annual street collection in Eldon Square, collecting from 12noon - 2pm each day from 17th - 19th December. The charity we collected for is Newcastle Vision Support.

We are grateful to Anderson & Garland for the opportunity of collecting at the private viewing evening for the Sept 2018 Fine Art Auction. Thanks to the generosity of clients we were able to collect £655 for our chosen charity, Newcastle Vision Support.

Visit to the Discovery Museum
A party of ten of us enjoyed a guided tour of the former Coop Warehouse that is now Newcastle's Discovery Museum - a very interesting building. This was followed by an enjoyable lunch at Mario's Italian Restaurant

Harold Robson's Second Zip-wire Slide
Not content with being the oldest person in the UK to ride a Zip-wire for charity when he crossed the Tyne in April in support of the Alzheimer's Society, he undertook a second ride in October to help the President's chosen Charity, MacMillan Cancer Care.

Christmas Street Collections
For many years we have held a charity collection in the Newcastle central shopping area in the weeks leading up to Christmas. In recent years this has been in Eldon Square. Many charities have benefited thanks to the generosity of the people of the City.

President Stephen arranged an afternoon tea at Horton Grange to mark the approaching end of his Presidential year. It proved a very enjoyable occasion with excellent weather for drinks in the garden beforehand.

Open Day Event at Fleming Court Care Home
We were invited to participate in an open day at this local Care home and to be the beneficiary of a Raffle for which a number prizes have been donated by local businesses.

Polio Eradication
The eradication of polio is one of Rotary's most significant efforts. We have helped immunise more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease

Visit to Alnwick Rotary Club
We made an official visit to the Rotary Club of Alnwick. Eighteen members and guests made upparty and we dined in the Olympic Suite. This room is famous for its panelling, which is from the SS Olympic, which was the sister shipog the ill-fated "Titanic"

Visit to the Aston Workshops
A group of twenty enjoyed a guided tour of the Aston Workshops at Beamish seeing some wonderful cars, some in pristine condition and some under the process of restoration. Afterwards we enjoyed an excellent meal at the Black Horse.

Between 10am and 6pm, members of the Rotary Club of Newcastle upon Tyne were in the Tesco Extra Store at Kingston Park giving customers of the store the opportunity o help local charities by contribution to our in-store charity collection.

Each year, our Club holds carries out a Street Collection in Eldon Square shopping Centre to raise funds for a local charity. For 2010, the collection was in aid of Maggies Centres who are planning to build a Cancer Caring Centre in Newcastle next year.

A number of our members attended the Rotary District 1030 Conference in Peebles. Our party stayed at the Cardrona Hotel and by all accounts had a very jolly time!

The Projects Committee arranged a guided tour of the Lit & Phil library in Newcastle. This proved to be a very interesting visit. Our Club President, accompanied by five past presidents enjoyed the tour led by City Guide.

On 28th April 2011, a group of Club members, with spouses, embarked on the ferry, MS "Princess of Norway" at the International Ferry Terminal, North Shields en-route to the Netherlands to visit the Rotary Club of Zandvoort.
