The Bigogwe Project

Having received a visit and presentation from Dr James Derrick, a retired GP who is involved with the provision of equipment to a Health Centre in Rwanda, we raised funds and, with the help of a grant from Rotary Foundation, were able to provide for the purchase of an untrasonic scanner for use in the maternity department.

Maggies Centre Project

During his Presidential Year of 2010-11 Peter Tracey arranged a number of events to raise funds towards a new Maggies Centre to provide support for cancer sufferers in the North-East.  A Total of £4,500 was raised over the year.

School Library Project

With the assistance of fellow members of our Club One of our members collected almost 200 boxes of textbooks and 85 boxes of clothing for children at a village School in India. as well as providing computers, monitors and printers for the school

Support for the Peoples Kitchen

We have supported the work of the People's Kitchen in Newcastle over many years with various donations.

Support for the Tiny Lives Fund

For the last two years, the charity that has benefitted from the proceeds of our main annual fundraising event has been the Tiny Lives Fund, which provides support for the neonatal unit of the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle upon Tyne.

 

Support for the Shelterbox Project

The Rotary Club of Newcastle upon Tyne has, in recent years, funded twenty-five Shelterboxes that have been sent to area affected by didasters in various parts of the world, providing relief for 250 people.

Clean Water Project - Peru

The Rotary Club of Newcastle upon Tyne helped to fund the building of a water tower in the Amazonian region of Peru to provide clean water for a training centre and local residents.

Provision of laboratories and equipment for a school in India

With the help of grants from Rotary International  the Rotary Club of Newcastle upon Tyne, in partnership with the Rotary Cub of Morinda in India, funded the provision of three science laboratories for a school in the Punjab.

Piano Project

VISITS

more In addition to raising funds and sponsoring projects. the Projects Committee also arranges visits to places of interest for Club members and friends. As well as providing fellowship, we make a small charge to provide a contribution to charity funds.

back CLUB PROJECTS COMMITTEE. The Projects Committee of the Rotary Club of Newcastle upon Tyne is the main organising group of the Club and combines the functions of the previous Vocational Service; Community Service and International Service Committees.
