Saltram Rotary raised £8,000 to help fund the construction of a water borehole & associated storage & distribution system for the charity Widows & Orphans in Rural Kenya. The money was raised though various local events, a craft show & individual donations. The photo shows the kiosk, the water bore hole, and its users.
The Charity founder MaryJane Butler MBE said ‘ Without Saltram Rotary this would never have been possible...... tremendous… thank you so much’
WORK is a Christian organisation dedicated to helping people to become self-sufficient by supporting education, training and healthcare for widows & orphans. The water borehole provides a reliable water supply for the 60 bed rural health clinic St Bakhita’s at Misikhu, which offers a great range of preventive & curative health care.
Several Saltram Rotary members continue to support the charity on a monthly basis.
