MORPETH ROTARY UPDATE ON INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL CHARITY AND PAKISTAN FLOODS
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon in London and Karachi Dr. Amjad Shaikh took time out to brief Morpeth Rotary members on his charitable work in Pakistan and around the world. He organises free operations to correct limb deformities, with physiotherapy and medical aids, for some of the poorest people in the world. He also arranges for multi-purpose mobile units to be shipped to where they are needed and to be used for heart and breast cancer screening and minor procedures. He reported on what was happening with the floods in Pakistan. To try to do something himself he has opened up 50 acres of family land there to 150 homeless families with the hope of having 100 small homes built for them. He was at school with Morpeth Rotary president Arif Shahab.
