Nearly 2,000 people have been killed and thousands more injured in the powerful earthquake in Myanmar and neighbouring Thailand which has caused catastrophic devastation with survivors urgently needing critical support.
Storrington & Pulborough District Rotary has been quick to respond to the disaster with collections at its Saturday morning Bookstall in Place Villerest and at Old Mill Square, Storrington, raising over £600.
With a further Club donation, £1,150 has been sent to Rotary’s partner Aquabox to help fund their purification filters that will provide clean, safe drinking water for thousands of survivors in the stricken areas.
Rotary President Mark Foss thanked local folk for their response to the collections: “As ever, we are very grateful to all the generous residents of Storrington and surrounding villages who have donated to this humanitarian appeal”.
