"We would like to invite our fellow Godalming Rotarians to join us for a heritage tour of King Edward's Witley. The School was founded in 1553 in the City of London and has a colourful history of educating both boys and girls since then, having been one of the first coeducational boarding schools in the country. In 1867, the school relocated to Witley allowing pupils to benefit from fresh air and the green countryside of Surrey. The original buildings are Grade II listed, and the site has wonderful tales from its usage as a convalescent home of Bethlem Hospital, through to the requisitioning of the site by the Royal Navy during World War 2. We hope you will enjoy this history tour and look behind the scenes. There will also be light refreshments at the end.
The tours will start at Reception at 3:30pm on Tuesday 14th April, and this is situated off the Gurdons Lane entrance to the school. There is ample parking for all, and anyone in need of blue badge parking close to the entrance should let the team know at alumni@kesw.org.
Please note the tour will last approximately 45 minutes and there are some steps throughout"
