The Young Musician of the Year competition, organised by the Rotary Club of Godalming was held at the RVW Music Centre,Charterhouse, on Wednesday 29th June, by kind permission of the school.
Taking part were Helen Michels (piano), Matthew Pearson (clarinet), Matthew Tate (trumpet) and Violetta Suvini (violin).
The adjudicator, Richard Benjafield, head of wind, brass, and percussion at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama,
congratualated all the contestants on the very high standard of their performances, each playing 3 pieces. The winner ,
Violetta Suvini, 17, from Sir William Perkins's School, performed Rhapsody No1, 1st movement by Bartok, Sonata No1 in G minor, Siciliano and Presto by JS Bach and Sonata in A major, 3rd & 4th movement by Franck.
