Christmas Message
On the last meeting in December over 30 members and friends attended Club to hear our guest speaker Sandi Wickens deliver her Christmas message. Sandi explained that this was her last Christmas in Burgess Hill as during the summer of 2019 she will be taken up her appointment as Curate to a Church in Rotherfield.
I have heard Sandi speak on many occasions and she is always well prepared and I knew from when I asked her to speak she would do us proud and I was not disappointed. She started off by giving each table a bag of various sweets and we were invited to take one or two sweets until the bags were empty.
She then began to talk about the Nativity, a story we all knew from childhood and we had to listen very carefully because if Sandi mentioned any of the sweets you had, you had to wave your bar of Mars, Galaxy or packet of Hobnobs, etc above your head.
I haven’t venture into any shop the sells sweets since the 11th but every time I go into a sweet shop in the future I will be reminded of Sandi and her talk.
Looking round the Club during her talk I could see that everyone was finding her talk interesting and afterwards Sandi said we could keep the sweets we were looking after. The Galaxy bar of chocolate went down well over Christmas with a cup of tea.
Thank you Sandi and we wish you every happiness and success in your new venture.
