Peter Wood is leader

Our early April walk will be on Tuesday April 7th 2026, which Peter Wood will be organising. He has asked me to post the following details in an 'all members' email

"Details as Follows
Great Chesters
A 4.5mile walk – described as “An easy walk on the Wall frontier with a Roman cavalry fort to explore”
It starts at Cawfields Quarry (NE499PJ) – there is a PAY car park at the Quarry. There are toilets at the Car Park.
We pass Great Chesters Roman Fort/Milecastle 44/Walltown Farm en route
If we do the walk quickly we can visit Milecastle 42 which is just above the Quarry and has stunning views.
As to lunch – we can use the Milecastle Inn – not far from the start or travel back a little along the Military Road towards Hexham to The Sill
Please let me know if you wish to partake."

So if you would like to participate please email Peter on
