Club Walk - Stanhope

Wed, Sep 24th 2025 at 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

An easy walk at Stanhope, led by Peter Wood

STANHOPE DENE WALK is an easy walk, just 2.25 miles.

We will be meeting in Stanhope - starting from the “Stanhope Dales Centre” (DL13 2FJ) which has a Car Park with toilets, open from 10am.
Date Wednesday 24th September
Time – meeting in the above Car Park at 10.30am
Car Sharing to get to Stanhope seems sensible if possible.

The STANHOPE DENE walk takes you west along the main road until you cross the Stanhope Burn, then it turns north passing Stanhope Hall and follows the burn until a bridge allows you to cross and return on the other side. On the way back you can pass Ashes House and follow a track through a wood before descending.
The best map is the OS Explorer 307 - Consett and the Derwent Reservoir

Our Car Park adjoins the Churchyard, and the Church is one of the finest in Weardale which might interest people as to a visit.

I shall have had a practice walk before our official date (have not done this one as yet) and will look around Stanhope for a suitable place to have some lunch for those who wish

Please Peter know if you are interested.
