Rotary Club of Hexham
Important Revision –
Please note the Change of dates from the end of May to:-
Thursday 7th May and Friday 8th May ( Check out Saturday 9th May)
Note:- Separately Norman Wicks is arranging a trip to Town Twin Noyan in France for which dates are not yet fixed: Norman is aware of these Harrogate dates and aims to avoid a clash of dates.
2 Away Days –May 2026
Ascot House Hotel 54 Kings Road Harrogate
Revised to be Thursday 7th and Friday 8th May (Check out Saturday 9th)
Admin Team recently agreed revised dates as clashes reduced the number of bookings for the previous issued dates ( Wednesday and Thursday 27th/28 May).
Availability (particularly Dinner in the hotel) lead to the Team choosing a Thursday/Friday.
Friday nights are £20 more than standard Monday-Thursday but with Group Discount changes the prices quoted here are increased by £18 on the prices quoted in August( see below).
Single Occupancy
Single guests may choose a Single Room or a discount for a Classic Double. The Ascot House Hotel will not now offer a single person discount on a Cosy Double room (small) . They advise that Classic Rooms are much nicer.
This smallish hotel is just outside the town centre about 4 minutes walk from the Conference Centre. There are good reports of the hotel which has been used for decades as the Monday lunch venue for Harrogate Rotary Club. There is a lounge/bar/
Rotarians who have already indicated a wish ( orally or in writing) to book are asked to tell us again due to the revised dates and price. A total of 8 Rooms are held as previously requested.
We hope that more Rotarians will decide to tell us that they wish to join us. In addition to the 8 rooms members asked for a Single and 2 Classic Doubles are reserved until Christmas for additional members to sign up. There is at present plenty of space with unreserved rooms still available.
Room Categories
Ascot House Hotel has 19 rooms over Ground, First and Second floors. There is no lift.
These can be viewed on the Ascot Hose website at https://www.ascothouse.com/
Prices for 2 Nights Bed and Breakfast (revised September) are as follows:-
Single Room ( one person ) £130
Cosy Double (one or two persons) £210
Classic Double (one person) £220
Classic Double (two persons) £240
Coppice or Baxter Room £282
They generally (i.e except single use of Cosy Double) are an increase of £18 on the previous prices for the end of May. Currently numbers justify the group discount built into these prices.
Dinner (pre-ordered for the group) is available each night at £35 (2 courses) or £38 (3 courses). We circulated a Sample 2025 menu . The menu and price may change.
Deposit and Payment Dates
Ascot House have given us a very good group discount and expect us to administer the list of individuals in our group attending the days away. Admin team do this on your behalf but it is the individuals who are the customers of the hotel and payments of deposits, room charges, extras etc are made directly to the hotel. Admin must remind late payers.
Deposit 25%
The 25% Deposit is due to be paid by 16th January 2026.
Full balance of Room Charges
The balance of the room charges is payable one month before attending so 7th April 2026
Note:- Deposits etc are not refundable but names can be substituted if one Rotarian drops out while another wishes to be added.
Charges for dinners etc are presumably payable on the day.
