Taking it easy from fundraising during an afternoon garden party with friends
There is also a rewarding Rotary social life – meetings are relaxed and fun and throughout the year we arrange a programme of events that have included special dinners (at the prestigious Carlton Club in St.James' no less), Indian suppers and ethnic dancing, race nights, quizzes, theatre visits, guest speakers, petanque evenings and social nights, as well as trips to events organised by our neighbouring Rotary Clubs. On the sporting side our golf, bowls, and quiz teams compete in district events and have achieved much success in the recent past. Visits to our twinned Rotary Clubs in France and Belgium are always rewarding where we receive exceptional hospitality which is returned when our European friends pay a reciprocal visit.

The Romford Club's response to the Nuclear Disaster of 1986 was led by Rotarian Robin Webb who over many years co-ordinated our help to the hundreds of children suffering incurable radiation sickness.

Trevor recalls that although 2020/2021 was a particular difficult time for all Rotarians the Romford Club was able to respond magnificently during the pandemic and successfully completed many major projects.
