It was a great pleasure to be visited by Chris Holmes from St. Francis Hospice on Thursday 4th May. Chris outlined the progress that has been made during the past year and as can be seen on the video recording of his talk , the Hospice is branching out into several new ventures and covering a larger area. At the end of his talk President John had the pleasure of handing over a cheque for £3000 pounds which go some way to help the good work being carried out. As an extra surprise, Past President Dr. Subash Hora stepped forward to hand over a large bag of cash which was collected in his surgery and the contents will be added to the club money.
Last year when we handed over a cheque for the Hospice we were informed that over the many years we have been supporting them we have given £98,000 pounds.
As the numerically quick among you will see we have now exceeded our target of £100,000 that we set ourselves last year. To be precise we have collected £101,000.and 7pence (plus Sub hash's cash. We also help by collecting used stamps which raises an enormous amount of money for the charity.
SO TO ALL MEMBERS, PAST AND PRESENT, OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF HORNCHURCH AND UPMINSTER I SAY ' WELL DONE' . YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS AND ALL THE EFFORT THAT GOES INTO RAISING SUCH A LARGE SUM OF MONEY.
